With its coastal charm, vibrant local businesses, and increasing popularity as both a place to visit and call home, the city is preparing for a new wave of development. (And probably more traffic 😂🚧)
Three exciting mixed-use projects: Center Point, The Haven at Galleria, and The Avenue are in progress and set to reshape the way we live, shop, and gather in Wilmington.
Here’s what you need to know about each one:
1. Center Point - The heart of Military Cutoff Road
📍 Intersection of Eastwood Road & Military Cutoff Road, next door to Mayfaire
👷♂️ Current Status: Residential Portion Under Construction (Phase 1)
Center Point is one of the most ambitious mixed-use developments in Wilmington’s history. Spanning over 23 acres at one of the city’s busiest intersections, this project is being planned by Swain & Associates and will bring luxury apartments, upscale restaurants, Class A office space, a hotel, and high-end retail to the heart of midtown.
🏗️ As of mid-2025, construction is well underway, Center Point has recently gone vertical! They will be completing the residential condo portion of this project before beginning the shopping & city scape on the main level.
What makes Center Point unique is its plan to blend walkability with convenience, they are creating a true live-work-play environment just minutes from Wrightsville Beach.

2. The Haven at Galleria - A New Vision for the Wrightsville Avenue/Eastwood Coridor
📍 Former Galleria Shopping Center site on Wrightsville Ave
👷♂️ Current Status: In Planning/Permitting Phase
The Haven at Galleria is a project in progress just down the road from Center Point. Located between Eastwood Road and Wrightsville Beach, this redevelopment will transform the old Galleria shopping center into a high-end residential and commercial hub. Think multi-family housing with a design that reflects Wrightsville Beach’s upscale coastal vibe.
🔎 As of now, The Haven at Galleria is in the planning and permitting phase, with developers working closely with city officials to finalize designs that prioritize walkability, green space, and high-quality architecture. Unfortunately, the developers had to make a tough choice to remove oak trees from the property this week, which created an uproar and a stop work order from the City of Wilmington. This project has been in the works since 2022, with no current estimate for completion.
3. The Avenue - A Luxe Live-Work Destination
📍 Military Cutoff Road past Landfall
👷♂️ Current Status: Delayed but Approved, dirt is moving
The Avenue is a luxury-focused development that will introduce a five-star Westin hotel, 500 luxury apartments, retail shops, restaurants, and office space to the northern end of Military Cutoff Road. The developer, The Carroll Companies, envisions this as Wilmington’s answer to upscale developments like North Hills in Raleigh or Avalon in Alpharetta, GA.
While the project has faced delays, the plans are approved and infrastructure work has begun. Once completed, The Avenue will elevate Wilmington’s reputation as a destination for luxury living and travel, including the most exciting addition to Wilmington: The Westin Hotel & Spa!
📝 While construction hasn’t kicked into full gear yet, the vision for The Avenue positions it as one of the most transformative projects in the area.
